Well... it's not every day that I get to fly halfway across the world to photograph a wedding in the heart of the Riviera Maya, Mexico! When Michelle and Alec booked me to capture their destination wedding at the incredible Wild Tulum, I couldn't wait to pack my cameras and head to Gatwick Airport for what would become one of the most unforgettable experiences of my career.
One of the best parts of a destination wedding photographer is getting to spend quality time with the couple before the wedding itself. Rather than arriving the night before and leaving straight afterwards, I had the opportunity to spend four amazing days with Michelle and Alec, along with their amazing family and friends. Whether we were relaxing around the pool, enjoying the beach, having drinks at the bar or simply chatting about the exciting days ahead, it felt less like work and more like being welcomed into their holiday
Michelle & Alec
We Now Pronounce You Husband and Wife…
It's difficult to put this venue into words. Nestled deep within the jungle, Wild Tulum is unlike anywhere I've photographed before. The venue perfectly blends luxury with nature, creating a setting that feels intimate, peaceful and completely magical. Every corner offers another incredible backdrop, making it an absolute dream for destination wedding photography.
As guests gathered beneath the lush jungle canopy, Michelle and Alec exchanged their vows and finally said their "I do's." They also incorporated a beautiful sand ceremony into their celebration, symbolising the joining of their two lives and families. It was emotional, heartfelt and such a privilege to witness.
Cocktail O’Clock!
Following the ceremony, it was cocktail hour where guests enjoyed some of the most incredible cocktails and delicious canapés while soaking up the relaxed jungle atmosphere. The celebrations were filled with laughter as music filled the air .
While guests enjoyed the reception, we explored the venue together with Karen the owner who showed us some beautiful backdrops for some couple portraits. Wild Tulum is honestly a photographer's paradise. From dramatic jungle pathways to beautifully designed architecture and atmospheric lighting, every location created another opportunity to capture something unique. Michelle and Alec were so natural together, making my job incredibly easy. Their love for one another shines through every photograph.
The Perfect Company
What made this wedding even more memorable wasn't just the stunning location or incredible weather, it was the people. Michelle and Alec were such a joy to work with from beginning to end. Their families and friends made me feel so welcome, and I met so many fantastic suppliers who all worked together seamlessly to create the perfect day.
Destination weddings are always special because they allow everyone to slow down, spend quality time together and create memories that last far beyond the wedding day itself. This trip reminded me exactly why I love photographing weddings. It's about more than beautiful venues and incredible landscapes, it's about capturing genuine moments between people who mean the world to each other.
